Review commentary

"Universe," developed by SPI, is a noteworthy addition to the science fiction RPG genre, offering a system that balances simplicity with depth. Its character creation and world-building mechanics help engulf players into a richly imagined cosmos, though it lacks the extensive support and visual flair of contemporaries like "Traveller." Despite its potential, "Universe" struggled with market visibility due to limited expansions and support from its publisher. Nonetheless, for RPG enthusiasts seeking a blend of straightforward gameplay and expansive storytelling possibilities, "Universe" remains a compelling, if underappreciated, option.
