1. Plan for models first

Trace the footprint of a few actual bases. Favor broad, gently sloped tops and a clear crest over a dramatic peak. Mark where units must stand.

2. Cut and soften

Cut one or two foam layers, glue them together with a foam-safe product, and bevel the sides. Use a sharp knife carefully; do not heat-cut foam indoors without proper extraction.

3. Seal and texture

Seal exposed foam with PVA before painting. Add fine texture in thin layers, leaving enough level space for bases. Let each layer dry fully so it does not peel in use.

4. Paint and protect

Paint dark earth, drybrush a lighter earth tone, then add flock in irregular patches. Seal with a foam-compatible matte product and test a figure on every usable slope.
