Victory in the Pacific vs War in the Pacific

Like those games where folks can go face-to-face with an opponent while pushing cardboard pieces around the map board? Here is the place for that. What board games have you played? What board games do you like and why? What board games do you hate and why? And so on...

Victory in the Pacific vs War in the Pacific

Post by Gene »

On the Battleward.com website, in the Games webpage I had inadvertently stated that Jim Dunnigan was the designer of "Victory in the Pacific". I was fully aware who designed the game, "Victory in the Pacific" and I still used Jim's name. It was just a lapse in attention. Jim's a good guy and I'm sure he'll forgive me for my little boo-boo. Jim did design along with Edward Curran, Irad Hardy, and Thomas Walczyk one of the best war games at the time- "War in the Pacific". It was also one of the largest of the "at sea" games, if not the largest game, of its kind ever published. So, kudos to the old SPI gang for making a great game. This time, I caught the error myself, although, I'm sure, if I'd waited a bit longer, someone would have told me. Ah, well...

Both are great games and I've played both, but for simplicity and timeliness I think War in the Pacific is great for an afternoon of gaming. Whereas "War in the Pacific" is a far more involved and lengthy game.

I will eventually write a review of "War in the Pacific" and add it to the website.
